Troop 53 typically hosts one camping trip per month in various locations from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and more!
A typical trip consists of a 5:30-6pm departure from our ScoutBase location.
Once we arrive at our campsite we are typically tent camping (warmer weather) or cabin camping (colder weather).
Scouts assign a 'grubmaster' who is responsible for meal planning and provisioning. While on the trip patrols are responsible for cooking their meals and ensuring food safety (with adult supervision of course!)
Troop 53 attended Chester County Council's Klondike Derby in January! This is the first time the troop has participated in Klondike in about 5 years.
Scouts braved consistent below 20° F temps and some snow on the ground. After competing in multiple camp activities such as First Aid, knot tying, archery, rifle shooting, and more - scouts returned home on Saturday night tired and ready for the snow day on Monday!
The camping trip had an attendance of 10 scouts and 2 adults.
Troop 53 attended Navy's Scout Day at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. During this camping trip we spent the weekend tent camping at the Capitol KOA campground. On Saturday, we had an opportunity to tour the US Naval Academy and attend a fantastic football game vs USF and Navy ended up winning 41-38.
After the game, we tailgated in the parking lot at the Germantown Elementary School making cheese steaks and playing some football!
The camping trip had an attendance of 16 scouts and 6 adults.
